A patent attorney is an expert in the field of intellectual property rights who has passed the qualifying examinations, has passed certification and has received a certificate for the right to engage in the activity of a patent attorney and is entered in the State Register of Patent Attorneys.
Patent attorneys provide individuals and legal entities with assistance and services related to the acquisition and protection of intellectual property rights, represent the interests of these persons in the State Department of Intellectual Property, as well as judicial bodies, credit institutions, in relations with other individuals and legal entities.
By patent attorney is meant lawyer-attorney, and by patent agent, a person sufficiently knowledgeable in intellectual property, but not a lawyer. In other words, the distinction between a patent attorney and a patent agent is similar to that between a lawyer and a non-lawyer.
